REVIEW: NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

Monday, 6 July 2015

I purchased this foundation weeks ago planning on reviewing it for my blog and to make a first impressions video on YouTube about it. Unfortunately it didn't happen as quickly as I had planned, and the reason is that I had uni exams and I really needed to revise for them. But now that all that is over, I finally had a chance to use this foundation and review it. I have already posted a YouTube video (my very first video actually, and a very awkward one too, where I talk really fast because I was so nervous!) reviewing this foundation. Here it is:

In this video I am wearing the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation so you guys can see how it looks!

I bought this foundation at John Lewis for £32, which is pricey but it is NARS and the foundation itself, in my opinion, is worth the £32. It is available in 20 shades, ranging from really pale shades to darker shades. I'm in the shade Tahoe, medium/dark 2 for both the Sheer Glow and the All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. You get 30ml/ 1 Fl. Oz. of product, which is the standard size that many foundations come in.

I love the packaging of this foundation, it's very sleek and expensive looking with the frosted glass and the usual NARS matte lid. The All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation comes with a pump (thank you NARS!) unlike the Sheer Glow. The pump helps avoid making a mess when trying to pour out the foundation and wasting product. Also the pump on this foundation does not pump out a lot of product, which I like because that way I don't end up using more product than I need or wasting it.

The formula of this foundation is very watery, it just runs down my hand when I pump some out onto the back on my hand. But for such a thin consistency the coverage of this foundation is amazing, it's medium to full coverage. Even though it can be full coverage it doesn't look or feel cakey on my face at all. The only problem is that it tends to dry quickly so you need to be quick when blending it out, what I do now is I apply some on an area of my face like my cheeks, blend it out, then apply some more to another area of my face and blend.

Compared to the Sheer Glow, this foundation is less yellow looking on my face, and it also looks less glowy. The All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation separates, so you get a watery layer on top of the pigmented layer if you leave it for too long, so every time you use it make sure to give it a good shake.
I'm wearing the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation here!
I have dry skin and I think this foundation looks good on my skin, but I did realise that if I have any dry patches it will cling to it, so make sure to exfoliate your face before you use this if you have any dry patches. This foundation dries down to an almost matte finish, so it will be good for people with oily skin types too (it has an oil free formula), but maybe you will need to powder it down a bit.

Oxidation is not a problem with this product, it stays the same colour and doesn't become darker throughout the day.

I have worn it for about 10-12 hours, and it lasted throughout the day pretty well, and when it did start to fade it didn't become blotchy or look weird on my face. It's supposed to last 16 hours, I'm not sure if that's true but I think you can definitely get it to last up to 10-12 hours with a good primer and powder.

I love the finish of this foundation (although not as much as my Sheer glow). The coverage is impressive and it photographs beautifully as it is free of any spf, and it lasts for a long time on my face. If you haven't tried this foundation yet then you should give it a go when you can because it is truly very good. It has quickly become one of my most worn foundations!
