Maybelline VS Sleek contour kits - drugstore contour kits

Saturday, 22 August 2015

I've been into contouring ever since the whole Kim K contour thing blew up, and that's when I realised what a huge difference contouring does to the shape of your face.

The first contour product I ever used was the Sleek Contour Kit in Medium from Boots, cheap and cheerful at £6.49. Then came out the Maybelline Master Sculpt (also from Boots) in Medium/Dark for £6.99, which immediately appealed to me with its cool undertone. Most of you beauty enthusiasts may already know that contour products with a cool undertone looks more natural. The Sleek kit was good, but  it was a lot warmer.

The Sleek contour kit is available in 3 shades - light, medium and dark. I have medium. However even light is quite dark, so it may not be suitable for very pale skin. I think the the contour shade could also double up as a bronzer, but it may look a bit too dark and muddy if you're not careful.
The Maybelline Master Sculpt is available in 2 shades, light/medium and medium/dark.

Although I do prefer to use the contour shade in the Maybelline kit, I like the highlighter in the Sleek kit more than the Maybelline highlighter. The Sleek highlighter has a more champagney shade that suits my skin tone better.

Both of the contour kits are powder products, and last on my skin for pretty much the entire day (6 hours).
